hey guys, i need an answer to a quick question. im chosing a related text for the tempest and ive planned to do the film "american history x" which was released in 1998, however, ive heard that doing an old film is bad, is this true? apparently doing films that are much newer is better? i need an answer asap please. much appreciated :)

nothing is bad as long as you can write something great about it.

American History X is a good choice, and I would say it's quite the opposite. Markers hate it when someone ends up doing a film that was a blockbuster or was in cinemas recently, they actually prefer that you do a classic text which has depth to it. Now, that doesn't mean either is better it's just that showing that you can do an older film or text might also show that you have wide range of texts you explore and read. source: people did the Dark Knight (cant remember which one) for my year as their extra texts and didn't get very nice comments from my teachers and markers.
