I came to Australia mid 2007, and am now doing my HSC. I was wondering if I'm still eligible to drop from standard english to ESL as its already half way through year 12?

Might be worth checking with your school. AFAIK you have to have been in Australia 5 years or less when starting prelim to be eligible.
