Syllabus at uni?? (1 Viewer)

During the HSC we all had a syllabus to follow which basically clarified what was expected of us to know and learn. At uni is there a similar way of teaching or are we just expected 2 summarise textbooks and lectures and then be tested. Basically are we handed an outline of what we are expected to know by the time each of our units have been completed??
Also, for those who have done or are doing law are the seminars like lectures or are they like tutes...what exactly do they involve?

Yeah .. the unit outlines have outcomes - however, they are very specific in what you need to learn, they are more like students will achieve and understanding relating to whatever. They aren't as detailed as high school.

Teaching - lecturers usually waffle on about nothing well, sometimes anyway, take down notes in lectures, also you may require textbooks - use textbooks to further your knowledge about what is said during the lecture. Tutorials is where you discuss what was talked about in the lecture. You are usually examined on what has been said during the lecture.

They're basically an outline of what you should know, or what you should have achieved by the end of the unit. They aren't as heavily 'promoted' as in high school, but they give a good indication of what is expected of you.
