Its not essential to read this magazine to get a band 6 in this subject.
its up to you if you wanna "waste your time" or not

Well the member did not say if their teacher gave them stuff or not
Yes I do realise that for a student it is important for them to be up to date with the happeninings of the business world.

The syllabus asks for you to relate the theoretical concepts learnt to the business environment.
I did that! Was very good at it I've been told.
I looked for my case studies myself however I did not read this magazine ever
that was all I was saying.
And yes, i did use my own examples also

And you say it is not essential to get a band 6. Please feel free to enlighten us on how you know that it isn't necessary to use up-to-date statistics and examples/case studies (which the syllabus states you should) within your answers and still can gain a band 6 (I'm particularly talking in regards to a high band 6, as we should all aim for the top).
U didn't have to have a go at me though... Is my mark of 93 in business studies not good enough for you hey?
Well I would'nt mind hearing how you went in this subject. But u never told me...
and btw, I did not have a tutor for this subject and most of my work i did independently.

As Without Wings said, it may be a good idea to keep abreast of current issues, even if it is just for general interest - after all, it is Business Studies. That said, in my opinion you don't need to read mags like BRW to get a Band 6 in the subject. Of course, it doesn't hurt, but only if you have time.

Ok well I'll give some advice now
I generally tried to relate my theory back to the question and then backed it up with a case study example and where applicable case studies :)
thats what the 06ers should try and do :)

I think in summary:
It's beneficial to read those magazines so as to broaden your general knowledge of business, but doing so is not necessary to gain a Band 6 in HSC Business Studies (only do extra reading if you have time). Mind you, you will need to use case studie(s) in your HSC exam, and doing some extra reading may help you in this area because you will have gained a better insight into the business world.

Just asking, did you manage to read BRW whilst you were doing the HSC? I see the importance of case studies but it seems the teachers at my school dont partircularly care for the students; they wouldn't bother feeding us with articles.
