Hey guys,
I'm kinda new year, long time lurker, n00b poster.
I'm writing a report, and one of the questions is:
Explain the types of 'rites of passage' in Spartan society.

The only one I've got so far is :
As another test of wills and strength, the Spartan boy was sent into the mountains at age 13, and expected to use his skills and instincts to survive. This rite of passage helped to further weed out the unfit as well as further strengthen the Spartan army.

Any help would be so so appreciated. Sooner is better if possible :)
Thank you all in advance

Jeanmarie (historian) says that the krypteia is a rite of passage possibly pre-dating the classical military organisation, and may have been preserved through Sparta's legendary religious conservatism.
