It seems oddly worded. I don't think terminology used is part of the cirriculum

y = -4f[2(x+1)] -3

When y = 2

=> 5/(-4) = f[2(x+1)]

=> x = (f^-1(5/-4) -2 )/ 2) # assuming the function has an inverse function.
