so certainty factors are 0-1 attached to a fact to show the likliness its true. Confidence variables are an attribute whos value is cumulatively added through each certainty factor right...So in a GUI a user can specify how certain they are it is going to rain and make the certainty factor ).7 and so this is added to the confidence variable and at the end these are added to give the level of certainty the conclusion is true. So really the user can modify the confidence variable and thus how sure the Exp Sys is that the conclusion is true
and fuzzy logic describes the variables that exist between true and false when some something may be more true than another which also maybe true...which it uses heuristics which are either
a) put in by expert
b) created by the ANN through its training
