Respected Seniors and Dear Friends,
i am a passout student from a reputed engg. institute of india and for my Masters in field of Computer Science and IT(specializing in Networks,Distributed Computing,Internet Computing and related fields) i have got admits from many Unis in Australia.however now at this point of time i have to decide b2in Uni of South Australia(UniSA) in Adelaide and RMIT Uni in Melbourne.but going to RMIT will not give me the PR(Permanent Residency) after 2 years(unless otherwise i pass the NAATI exam OR i show A$1,00,000 in Australian bank for 1 year which is not possible for me) due to recent changes in PR rules.but if i go to Uni SA i will get the PR very easily.with that PR i can not only search for jobs but also can pursue higher studies as a local student of Australia.bt can ne1 throw some light on the reputation and prestige of UniSA.r their degrees respected worldwide?is it a good Uni in field of Computer Sc. OR IT research as i also hav got the intention of doing a little bit of research in future,if possible?some ppl did mention that UniSA is good in IT and Computer Science research
so if i finally decide to go to UniSA,will my career be ok considering the overall scenario and reputation?

one more Query:if someone passes out with a Master degree in IT(whether UniSA or RMIT) specializing in Netoworks and then a bit of research xpereince AND WITH A PR,what is his/her job scope out there in Australia?

PLS DO REPLY ME
looking forward forward for your help,
sincerely
ASC

Ask yourself this, how important is permanent residency to you? If it is of particularly high importance, go with U. of SA. Though I am inclined to say RMIT, merely out of being biased towards my state. :)
Sorry I don't have any solid advice to offer, I am sure someone will!

do try to apply for your degree in RMIT as it is better for technology/IT oriented subjects. for more information you might want to send a private message to alvin (pointdexter), who studies in South Australia

Thank u for your replies.however related to that i have some clarifications as follows:

1)i am INTERESTED in PR just for one reason.leaving the job prospect apart with the help of PR,i came to know that even in field of higher studies by research(particularly in terms Scholarships, tution fees, other financial help, loan and other relevant opportunities...hope u understand) any1 who is a holder of PR will get an edge over those on International Student Visas.coz my plan is to get involved in some research degree or work after completing my Coursework Masters in IT.so what i have planned is that i will get the PR by studying in UniSA in first 2 years and then go to some big Unis like Monash,Melbourne,Queensland,NSW etc. to get involved in some good research.i am not at all interested to go for a job just after completing my Master by coursework.am i justified in this?

2)suppose i continue with my higher studies by research in UniSA only after 2 years, will it b a bad choice?aren't their research recognised nationally as well as internationally?

I ACTUALLY WANT TO KNOW THAT EVEN IF I COMPLETE ALL MY DEGREES(coursework and research) from UniSA,will i not be considered at par with graduates from other Unis like Monash,Queensland etc. in terms of reputation and prestige?

Hmm the only certain info I can give you is that Monash Gippsland are big on their international students. Programs, support services, orientation for international students, specifically designed to help them settle in a little easier. Can't speak for other campus', the best thing - it's a small campus, but probably not the best for degrees in IT. Caulfield or Clayton campus perhaps?

Not sure about Uni of SA reputation wise. Have you asked this question in the SA forum? Might want to give that a shot, maybe check out the uni website, even give the uni a call if possible-

Hi asc. I dunno much about UniSA most of us won't know about it besides from the fact it exists. It's reputation is not as big I don't think as RMIT in Melbourne, Monash, Uni Qld, NSW and that. Dunno if that will help.

UQ and NSW are very big.. esp since there is no brisbane uni

uniSA is think victorian uni but more spending on tech..

u wouldnt even compare RMIT to them..
UniSA is a very tech uni.. it does alot of the space engineering in SA and is a recognised int'l space uni.. recently had a conference of NASA and european space specialist- engy, scientist etc.. it use to be a set of TAFE colleges up until 1991.. offers the only pharmacy degree for yr 12 leavers in SA.
