Do you think that UWS medicine Graduates have lower employment prospects than UNSW/USYD graduates because they are more prestigious?
Does UWS offer courses through which you can specialise in a certain medical field?
Much thanks

It's all about getting the degree regardless of whichever UNI you attend.
Plus UWS has a better medicine facility than UNSW and USYD

lol.. can you at least try and explain it a little when you make statements like these..You see, if a senior or junior doctor made that comment, I wouldn't be so mad .. but you're in year 12 so how the fuck do you know about medicine facilities of UWS/USYD/UNSW and which one is better out of the 3.

As for the OP's question, do some research before u post a thread m8. strongmedapplicant/10

yes pretty much. I think OP has heard rumors; made assumptions and what not to conclude that "UWS is better than UNSW". Personally I have no idea about the engineering at USYD but I don't say (with certainty) that UNSW engo is better than USYD engo. In fact; if you get the same degree you can still apply for the same jobs. I have never seen one job application say "UNSW grads only wanted".

med can't be spoonfed to you. If you really want to do it; you need to research and put in the hard yards.

It depends what you do after you graduate. Everyone is guaranteed 2 years employment before having to apply. It comes down to networks really and further training depends on what other things you have done.

UWS actually input a lot more money into their training facilities and they are newer too so it's expected.

Its just rumors, I've never heard anyone saying that UWS has low job employment prospects before. You can become a Doctor from any University with the correct training. UWS has a state of the art medical training facility thats recently been built, so the ranking is 'up there' on the charts...

Employment prospects are to do with what sort of student you are, CSP and Bonded you're pretty safe for now but if you're a Full Fee or especially an overseas student you're pretty much screwed. I wouldn't expect to be employed outside of the state that you trained in either.

You are actually wrong with regards to employment outside of the state. Perth I believe is lacking junior doctors as with a few other cities. It will be harder to get a place at a major urban center in NSW (you will definitely get a job in a outer suburban hospital or regional/rural hospital) but if you're applying from interstate your chances still aren't bad at this stage in time. By the time you graduate it may be different.

As for overseas students half will get a job and half won't.

Havox I don't know where you're getting your info from.

From the experience of past Interns/Residents/Registrars who admittedly are all east coast based.

Yeh east coast is different because it's in high demand. If you go out far in any of the other directions you should be fine as an interstate applicant. I know of quite a few people going Blacktown Hospital next year coming from interstate. This has also been true for other doctors in previous years.

I heard TISC Med only prefers mostly local applicants. But that's what I heard. True or not true, I don't know.
