My notes on ethics for College and "Blood Canticle" by Anne Rice.

Schoolish: "The Anatomy of Satire", Gilbert Highet, Princeton, 1967. , and John Clarke, The Howard Miracles. God John Clarke is an absolute genius.

Non-schoolish: picked up a copy of Oliver Twist/Great Expectations/ A Christmas Carol from a nearby shelf for an idle read, so it appears to be Dickens time.

Finished George Eliot's Middlemarch last night... left me sobbing. I hate the day/s after you finish a really powerful book, because I generally need to read before going to bed at night, and I don't like to start a fresh book when my mind's still turning over the previous one. So I'll spend the next few nights flicking through already read pages of Middlemarch and reminiscing before I can bring myself to start another book...

I'm reading Australin political institutions, absolutly thrilling.

Other than that the Theban trilogy by Sophocles and the Emperor series by Conn Iggulden (sp?)

I know, but like I said, this is the reading room! Plus the one in Entertainment is like 29 pages long....

Btw, I'm reading Frankenstein too. The introduction in my book takes upapprox. 1/3 of it and it's really boring me!

just finished reading "A child called 'it'" by Dave Pelzer, has anyone else read it?
Great book, a tear-jerker for the girlies, and a powerful memoir of one kid's survival for the guys...
Some of the stuff is truly horrible and sometimes quite graphic, don't read if u r queasy.
I'm about to start reading the sequel, "The Lost Boy".
These are nice, short books, easy to read, for if u like to read on the bus/train etc.

I've read all of the Pelzer books (and I didn't cry - no stereotyping me thank you!)

I'm currently reading "One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest", and also this book called "My Language is Me", a non-fiction written by the therapist of this teenager with schizophrenia recording six years of his treatment.
