What is the chance of my friend transferring to Pharmacy? (1 Viewer)

My friend who is in my course desparately wanting to get into B Pharmacy for some reason. What is his chance if his UAI is 93.85 and a WAM around 75 (GPA around 5.25-5.5)? I do not know his STAT test result as he haven't taken it this year. He is in first year, wanting to transfer to first year B Pharm

I think after 2 semesters of marks, they don't use UAIs as a part of the calculation for transfer for SOME courses. i don't know anything more...

I think it would be very hard for her to transfer with only a Pass Average. And if her UAI also counts, that would also disadvantage her as well.

erhm, please don't be so defensive about UWS because no one really care about which uni people go to (except Melbournian). If you make it sound defensive, it makes you look like you have to defend UWS which in reality, UWS don't need to be defended because it is a uni just like any other. Thanks

im doing pharm@usyd atm, and i know that next year there will be an increase of 60 places.. so maybe accepting around 250 altogether (i dont know where youre all gonna fit though!)

in transferring, its best to have a distinction average...and its very competitive. and i still think you need to do the MC stat exam, get over 150 (which is pretty easy)

In pharm, what subject did you do in the 1st and 2nd semester of year 1? Coz I am thinking that my friend wouldn't have to start from year 1 again if he did Chem, Bio and maths at UNSW MedSc. Thanks

he probly wouldnt have to do chem again, when i transfered into vet i didnt have to do chem again even though its "chem for vets" its pretty much the same, just basic chem stuff.

Thanks people. And also Mambomeg, how hard was it to transfer into Vet? What average and UAI did you get? Coz the cut off for pharm and vet is similar.

i had a d average (78%) and i got 99.8 in the STAT test. The vet ppl dont look at your UAI once you've done tertiary study, and you also have to submit a personal statement showing your committment to vet, so its a bit different to pharmacy. It was hard work, but not impossible.... but if i had my time over i would have worked harder in yr 12 and got in the first time, because i worked 10 times harder to transfer.
