my school just had the Ext 2 trial and my mark would probably be purely imaginary...

overall my rank among 20 students doing ext 2 were slowly increasing and my last rank was 17/22 i think

my original plan was getting ~50 percentile and scale really well, but i realized that the people doing ext 2 in other school must be already the very top math students and almost everyone in the selective school do them as well, so competing with these people its likely my rank will be fairly towards the bottom

has anyone crashed in Ext 2 before? what atar equivalent or scaled mark for below 30-25 percentile?

The 2011 stats only go down to the 40th percentile. That gave a scaled mark of 84. After further scaling to produce the ATAR, this mark gave an ATAR contribution which, if replicated in other subjects, would lead to an ATAR of 98.
