I've got:

JAPA310 - Japanese Economics and Media (8cp)
JAPA361 - Advanced Japanese I (8cp)
MATH141 - Mathematics IC Part 1 (6cp)
CSCI361 - Computer Security (6cp)

I seriously hate only doing four subjects, but since thirty-two credit points is the maximum, another six credit points on what I have would be too many. Sucks to be me, really. :(

I've got

PHIL256
STS100/200

I hate getting towards graduating, I've got hardly any Autumn subjects to do but a bucketload of Spring ones still needing to be done.

At this stage, however entry to IACT441 requires a research proposal and some other bits and pieces, so it's not guaranteed yet.

Summer (i.e. now)
BMS101 Systemic Anatomy

Autumn
MATH201 Multivariate and Vector Calculus
MATH253 Linear Algebra
PHYS205 Advanced Modern Physics
PHYS235 Mechanics & Thermodynamics

Spring
MATH291 Differential Equations
PHYS215 Vibrations, Waves & Optics
PHYS225 Electromagnetism and Optoelectronics
BMS112 Human Physiology 1: Principles and Systems
PHYS255 Radiation Physics

Anatomy and Physiology are the odd ones out for me. A change of degree to Medical Radiation Physics a few months ago means I'll have to make up not doing them in 1st year. I think Spring might be a little hectic, all self-inflicted though.

Yeah the advisors will help you pick your subjects when you enrol. Good idea to look up the degree schedules and have an idea what you want to do before you go along though. Especially for Arts. For Commerce and Law they're pretty much set so they'res not so much to worry about.

As far as my subjects go, I finish my core ones this semester and continue with my electives.

Yeah, for 1st year Commerce, they'll likely set you up with something like:

BUS110
MGMT101
ECON111
ACCY101

and for spring

ACCY102
ECON101
MARK101
COMM121

Just a question (i'll be a 1st year too)... are there particular subjects within a degree that you absolutely have to do? I know in my creative writing degree there are like 4 writing subjects that you must do, but I wasn't sure in the communication/media degree whether you just pick a whole stack of media/pol/phil/comm/journ subjects and go from there. Can anyone help?

Apart from an Arts degree, I think most, if not ALL others have compulsory subjects. Go to the UOW site and look up the BCM and it should have a recommended subject sequence....it will tell you in that what you have to do....

Hahahaha at CSCI222. I hated that subject with a passion. Seriously. It was the most boring and unorganised piece of shit ever.

However after one year, I'm sure they've got a grip on it for you.

I'm sure there is a page somewhere on the UOW website that tells you what subjects you have to do and then how many credit points worth of subjects your must choose from either the additional subjects list or general schedule.
