If for my related I do A poem and A cartoon... Is their a chance I will be looked down upon by markers as maybe having just stitched up 2 pieces of related material at the last minute.
I really don't want to especially at this time of the year read and analyse a whole novel for the journey essay, but feel maybe it would be for my own good.

Why would they? It's still a related text.
Always think about the stupid and lazy marker when writing your essay. All they are looking for is that you match the criteria, the BOS has set.

As long as the text is well anlysed and you can fit it into the essay and express what notion of the journey it is expressing then as said a related text is a related text.
