Calculate the mass of Nitrogen in 28.02g of Ammonium Nitrate (NH4NO3). Calculate the number of moles in Ammonium Nitrate.
Number of moles= mass/molar mass
so find moles of ammonium nitrate. then by inspection, determine the moles of nitrogen atoms present, and thus find the mass.

Calculate the mass of Nitrogen in 28.02g of Ammonium Nitrate (NH4NO3). Calculate the number of moles in Ammonium Nitrate.
Mass of N:

Get the ratio of molar mass of nitrogen in ammonium nitrate, which = 2 x 14.01 / 2(14.01) +4(1.008)+3(16.00). Multiply this number by 28.02

Moles of Ammonium Nitrate:

moles = mass/molar mass, mass is 28.02, molar mass is 2(14.01) +4(1.008)+3(16.00).
