I knew every last thing in the IPT syllabus- and could answer every question in all the past papers. I even took the time to memorise all the flowchart symbols.
And after all that, The exam comes... well a paper came, but no exam! thats cause those booklets i filled out today, all 22 pages of em, assessed about 20% of the course, if that! exams are supposed to test what you have learned, your knowledge of the subject and the course.

Where was feasability studies, flowcharts, error correction and detection, network topologies, storyboards, back up procedures, etc. the list goes on!

That exam did not test our knowledge, over 10 marks (from memory) was allocated to drawing a form and a report, then we spent 4 marks identifying text and video elements on a webpage, somehow if they were going to test what we knew, mabey they should have followed the syllabus when making the exam, and atleast include some of the things or concepts which we spent so much time studying.

Yeh it does suck how they didn't test us on alot of stuff.. but I guess that's IPT. I think they're trying to make IPT a more practical subject- ie. You can't learn it just by reading a textbook.

I think you guys should look on the positive, and stop bagging the exam and BOS out. If anyone would know anything about testing - it would be the BOS. Let them do their job.

Thank you - The BOS chairperson...

lol...

Anyway - the exam wasnt that bad. And imagine, if you didnt study, the topics you didnt study for would be in the exam... Just say - I did the best i could do... and get over it.

but never studying wasnt an option, and i did do the best i could do, and i still think i did well, but i hardly think you can call that an exam- it didnt test the knowledge we were supposed to have gained or atleast memorised.

I was stressin'. I rang the advice line twice last night with all my stress. And talking to that teacher on the phone made me realise how shit my teacher has been all year. He couldnt advise on anything if his life depended on it. Thank you BOS. Yes i came out of that exam thinking that was pretty decent. Very easy. But to be quite honest i dont think i would have been very prepared for anything harder. Of course, i did study. But theory was always my problem.. I can apply pretyt much all that crap but writing about it..hm. Well its over

Oh, and yes MICR. I came out, mum picked me up. And im like "mum...i had no idea what the hell MICR was" and she says "oh..yeah its 'micar'..its what they put on cheques bla bla bla bla".. lol.

How the hell was that exam meant to assess what we were learning this year?

At least we'll now get an even spread. Peh, I didn't even study that much?

i dont think amny people will go "crap" it was an exam which every one could have scored 50% easily...just look at the 20 marks in multimedia easy marks their like 10 of the MC questions were simple, that movie ticket question was easy and their were other where you could write bs and get marks...It was not a hard exam compared to 2001,2002,2003,2004 they seemd to have a lot more content based questions some of the shit in this exam today was like off the scale it was like general knoledge...

I see it from the other side - how much stuff did they test thats only barely within the syllabus?!? I mean, I am completely stoked about that Search Engine question cause I've worked for an SEO (Search Engine Optimiser) specialist, but thats got very little to do with the course...

And the "Project Management Strategies" - what the heck did they want? I mean I wrote plenty and all but what did you all think of that?

terrible

It was a terrible, unfair exam. It didnt test our knowledge, and hardly tested our understanding. How can an identify questions make up so mcuh of the exam? It was a poor exam. If the exam was given to the whole state, ipt students wouldnt have had much of an advantage...

IPT's such a specific subject - you know and understand it, or you dont. theres hardly anything in between, why do the exams try to make it something its not?

Very true, this exam in no way awards hard work and studying like HSC exams are supposed to, it didnt test our knowledge nor our ability to analyse and apply that knowledge to real world situations. The only thing that made this course bearable was that the exams seperated those that know their stuff from those that dont- this exam did not do that.

You're completely right. they had so much they could've examined us on, and they chose to leave it all out and give us one crap exam..

At least it wouldnt have been possible to cheat on it :) theres no way anyone's notes couldve covered that
