can someone help me find a related text for belonging?
my prescribed text is Strictly Ballroom.

i was thinking of Twilight (novel) but people say it's shallow. I think it best fits Strictly Ballroom though.

What do you think?

Definately do not touch the Twilight novel or series.
Not only is it a mainstream text but a 12 year old could read it and interpret it pretty well, my english teacher wouldn't even let a student use it as a text in Year 11.

Sorry, I dont have any suggestions, maybe you could discuss some possible texts with your teacher?

I seriously recommend you NOT to do twilight.
As you said yourself, twilight is too shallow
instead look for texts with more 'textual integrity'

I haven't read/seen strictly ballroom, so cant really help you with related text.

the fourth book in the twilight series is the best for this ;).

I think its chapter 10; something about Fates' loom. It's a good metaphor for belonging.

DO NOT do Twilight... as you did say it's shallow and really too hard to put out anything thats deep and meaningful.

I think Strictly Ballroom would be a great film to do ^ ^ with all the colours and creative artistics by Baz Lurmen.. (personally i didnt like Australia) I'm thinking you can put a lot of techniques out of it ^ ^
