For my year 11 subjects i chose: general maths, standard english, business studies, IPT, software design and biology. Can anyone tell me if these subjects are any good for the HSC coz i wanna get a UAI. What UAI should i be aiming for?

ur subjects scale ok except for mayb general...sory i cant give u an estimate

yea, you will get a UAI with those subjects.

As for what UAI you should aim for, have a look at some university courses that you are interested in taking and see what those UAI cut offs are, and that should be your aim

Those subjects have inferior scaling. Biology aside, they all have a scaled mean of lower than 25 out of 50, that is, below average scaling. Subjects like software and standard english have scaled mean in the 10s/50 (as I've recalled). Frankly, not the best subjects if you are aiming for a high UAI.

But don't let that pull your confidence down, if you are truly interested in these subjects and are able to demonstrate your competence in university through achieving high marks in these subjects, then scaling will not matter.

What UAI should i be aiming for?
As high as possible. Read the UAC guide and you can find the uai cutoff for different courses.
