I know, I know. Another one. But please, I would really appreciate any opinions or help I can get. I'm not entirely sure if it's refined enough, but compared to what I had before it is much more clear and specific so for now I'm sticking with it. My topic is:
"Rain On Our Parade" - A research into the cultural impact of the Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras over time.
Specifically, I'll be focusing on the emmergence of Sydney's gay community and the Mardi Gras parade as a 'cultural icon/event', it's changing face over time (began as a protest march, now a major event in Sydney and famous (infamous?) around the world), and whether it's helped 'mainstream' the gay community and promote acceptance. Probably even the commercialisation of the event.
What do you guys think - is this a reasonable topic? I know it's a bit all over the place at the moment, but I'm still working on making it a bit more clear. I just want to know if I'm on the right track so far.
Just as a note, I have handed in a PIP proposal to my teacher, but since then I've changed my topic because my previous one was too broad and no matter how much I tried, I couldn't refine it enough. I haven't put this one forward to my teacher just yet, wanted to see what opinions I could get on it first.
