Hey all,

What's Nightfill like? I've got shift this Saturday 7.30pm - 3am. I imagine it would be alot of fun...no customers would be the best part ;)

re: the vest thing...not sure how it works in Aus but I get away with wearing the zip-up vest I wear at home.

I was offered nighfill from 5am to 8 am. As expected, I declined.

whats all this? 20% off at Borders? That a staff discount thing?
someone explain!? xD
Haven't heard anything about 20% off...
Thats the one. Could be very cost effective if they stock your textbooks.
I went in yesterday for our "Corporate Appreciation Day"
It was pretty cool. They didn't have any of my textbooks but I bought a few other books.
Also, not only did I get that discount but I gave them my email address and they're emailing me another 20% off voucher.
<3 books.

Why decline?
5 am start isn't that bad....
reasons why i would decline also

1. not only is it starting at 5am but:
2. its a 3 hour shift, lame start time + short shift = shit shift = no thanks

although, if your a morning person - dont see why not ? personally i'd rather do nights - closing at the deli ftw

;)

I'm bakery so I don't mind the early starts. Used to do the 5/6 am starts every weekend during school.

Really? They let you supervise at 16? I had to wait until I was 18, but maybe that's because we're such a massive store. I think we're the biggest in Victoria, but I'm not too sure.
I'm at Camberwell and we've been pretty relaxed about the green vests until fairly recently when we've got both a new manager and 2ic in the space of a week. They're still not super strict on it, but they're making everyone get vests.
My store has a 15 year old supervisor (well she's now 16 but whatever), and we're a reasonably big store. It just comes down to whoever the CSM is and what their take on it is.

We had a 16 y.o. supervisor at our store.
The store got totally ripped into by the front-end specialist for the region... apparently she had an issue with him being left alone on smokeshop for whatever reason.
In separate news, they got over it when he requested to be placed in Bakery for reasons other than that.

At my old store I was asked if I wanted to train as a Supervisor. My CSM was going to give me Sunday Openings and Tuesday closing and i'm only 16. However I was also offered 2IC produce which I took instead.

Speaking of my old store...Does anyone else after the transfer miss their old store? I moved from a small 8 checkout store to a big 18 c/o store and I'm missing my old one like crazy. Is it just because I don't know everyone up here, and I kinda feel like an out sider? I don't know what it is but I hope it goes away soon.

It was busier than normal during the mid-afternoon for us, I guess, but after about 6pm it was as dead as it normally is.

Lol, I worked 8 and a half hours today, didn't even get a break.
Zomg.

On a separate note. Friday was ridiculously quiet. We were just below target :/
But our department was above it. Though we had an insane amount of RTCing to do in bakery, the RF server dropped so I had to do it all by hand and it took >1 hour. 8 tables were full of bread, and STILL more on the shelves by the time I was done.
