Are you atheist? Do your friends know? Do you keep it to yourself? Do your parents know?

I was raised Christian but I am atheist.
My friends know, and my parents have figured as much without needing me to tell them explicitly.

I am an atheist too. I make no secret of it, but generally won't bother telling unless it's relevant to the conversation. My parents and family know and they don't care. They're all agnostic or atheist anyway.

Usually I find Atheists ignorant and just closed off to the idea of faith, their ignorance is just that they choose to reject any kind of blind faith without proof but don't actively seek answes to why people choose these faiths. They just say, Fuck whatever you believe in... Whatever it is.

If you've read the Bible, Torah and Qu'ran and got absolutely nothing from them then You have every right to be an Atheist. That and some Atheists couldn't give you a coherent and sensible reason why A Billion Years ago.... there was nothing and then it Exploded. Those people don't deserve to call themselves Atheists.

Just suddenly deciding to be an Atheist without at least trying to look for some answers is just lazy and ignorant. Just picking the side that has no happy ending is just nihilistic.

Hench why I'm an agonostic... There might be a God, there might not. I'm still open to change.

Have you read EVERY religious text? The Eddas? ANYTHING but the Abrahamic religions? If not, then you have absolutely no right to make this judgement.

Also, it was 13.7, give or take a few half billion.

No, atheism is actually the logical default position.

i have no faith, and I don't care about faith. As long as you behave within the parameters of a normal person then I respect you as one.

Kwayera, I understood you're quite well informed, I'm just annoyed that some people are proud to call themselves Atheists and just ridicule other's faith with absolutely no knowledge about their faiths or any other facts that support the notion of Atheism...

They're the ignorant ones I'm mainly concerned about

My post was just structured poorly

I'm atheist. However I will gladly believe in any deity given solid, firm proof

(so perhaps it's agnosticism or something?)

Why do you care? Atheism is a default position, and people absolutely have the right to ridicule people's positions without knowing every single nuance of it.

Please don't confuse atheist with scientist. Not the same thing.

I'm pretty sure most athiests are like that.
If god comes to visit them in the night, I'm sure they'll become a "believer" too.

The term agnostic is overused. It pisses me off.
It should be as following:

Thiesm: If you believe in a god.
Athiesm: If you don't believe in a god.
agnosticism: the belief that nobody can ever know about god. I.e. not really open to religion since you believe mortals can never actuallyknow.

There is usually a direct correlation between the two subject matters considering they compliment each other so well.

Just the whole idea that people choose to directly relate Atheism to Darwin and his Monkey Flowchart.

There's a direct correlation between religion and homophobia too. I don't claim that all theists are homphobes though.
