I didn't see anything particularly wrong with Joel's post at all? Fine, he could've used a few more paragraphs, but it wasn't difficult to read and a lot more coherent than half the shit on here. At least he had something interesting to contribute, unlike you:

Your disorder obviously hasn't instilled you with an appreciation of paragraphs.
Joel can do whatever he wants. Doesn't mean the rest of us are going to sit back and watch you ruin an otherwise interesting thread.

god you people are pc dickheads.

it was terrible to read.

dont say it wasnt.

the fact that you're all having a whinge cos i corrected josh [sic] is pretty insulting to him i think

what you think because of his disorder he cant stand up for himself? or he needs special treatment or to not be told when he fucks up? what kind of fucked up mindset is that you morons?
- Thanks for patronising me, really made my day.

- Also I hope you enjoyed the 'sic' sign I put in your quotation (i.e. I told you when you 'fucked' up)
- Did I ask for anyone's sympathy? I believe not. I was simply giving my knowledge on the topic which I tend to have a great deal of knowledge on through experience.
- The irony is that I have spent my whole lifetime growing up around fuckers like yourself and I'm immune to your bullshit.

im [sic] sure if i [sic] had a disorder i would love for every tom [sic] dick [sic] and harry [sic] to jump in and have a cry because someone corrected my stuff up, that would make me feel heaps capable and shit

fuckerz [sic]
- I don't get what you mean by you not having a disorder! Are you really sure of that 'dickhead'.

Edit: that is a 100% serious post btw [sic]. i [sic] am 100% correct too. someone try and prove me otherwise. i have the moral high ground here cunts, just try and reclaim it.
- Trust me when I say that you will never have the moral high grounds with this issue!

- PS: I was trying to get a bigger font and more spacing so your eyes don't get strained by reading my post. We wouldn't want that now...wouldn't we?
- I never wanted sympathy from anyone.

ash this is unfortunately what your brother is going to go through.

On a less heated note I really did not expect this coming from a thread relating to savants and people with autism.

Wow Joel, wow.

That was just too awesome for words.

I actually laughed myself silly reading that, and watching you just totally rip his argument to shreds.

Far out... amazing.

GO you! Good work!

1) Jerry is TV character, and thus prone to hyperbolisation by the creators
2) Asperger's Syndrome has a spectrum of severity of symptoms, as you would well know
3) Asperger's can indeed be regarded as a disease or a disorder. Just because it doesn't kill you or you don't suffer from it, doesn't mean it's not a disease. It is by this (and any other definition):

Im sure a Disease is something you can catch, although i might be wrong you tend to do more research into things.

I remember my teacher pausing a video about renting and said its harder for this person to rent a house because "She has Bi-Polar Disease"

I vented so hard at that remark.

I didn't really expect this from everyone. I don't like attacking people like that but that guy was really annoying me and I thought ok stuff him.

Also I may not be a psycologist, biologist or any health professional, but, I don't consider asperges syndrome a disease. When I hear disease I personally think of something I could physically catch and be physically debilitated by. I have heard a few of you feel the same way.

What I really want to understand is why a post like this showing people interested in savants and people discussing their experiences with autism (or asperges), have other people criticise the whole thread and wreck the thread with rubbish about paragraph structure and 'labelling' someone as a disabled person.

Imagine going out to the street and calling some person who you don't know at all 'disabled'. Would they be happy?

I had someone call me disabled just because I said I had asperges syndrome and made a mistake of making a too long paragraph.

We may be an eccentric bunch, but disabled? No way.

It just takes us more intensive learning about how to socialise and how to get that confidence. We can live quite successfully on our own, we can think for ourselves, we can love and hate and feel all kinds of emotions for people, its just our way of expressing them that really gets troubling.

To me disabled means: Not being able to think or physically do something for yourself.

Your argument is as valid as anything, and I totally agree. I'm sorry this has happened too Joel. As I'm sure you are aware, there are some pretty nasty people out there, but I like to think that the majority of people are kind, open and understanding.

The good people are the ones you have to try and listen too, because what they have to say is of the most value. It's obvious, yes, but it's also important.

The peolpe who put others down for something they suffer usually are socially retarded or have no clue how the real world works.

I got a message from a new member called L and said i had ADHD, all because i said i was misdiagnosed with Skitzophrenia and Bi Polar instead of PTDS.

Its because these people have no clue what they are saying, and have to nit pick anothers post to gain a little more reputation, but its always good to see the pickers get thoroughly butt fucked.

there's an autistic man at my church. he's incredibly nice and extremely polite, he even thanks you for talking to him afterwards. he's very traditional and dislikes it when people clap during songs, which can cause him to become distressed during services. during the songs he sings with like an incredible falsetto style, he's quite good actually. he became incredibly interested in the US election, sometimes wearing shirts with slogans such as "Jesus loves McCain but thinks Obama is a dick"; which started to cause some problems. but he has since stopped wearing offensive shirts, settling for a "Palin '12" shirt.
