I live in the area, and while we'd love your dollars coming into our tourism industry, like I said before, GO SOMEWHERE SAFER, you'll most likely be verbally abused at least by the Bay Rats (the local druggies) or even bashed, so if you want a good schoolies, go to Norah Head or something, if not, have fun getting bashed by the drug fucks around here

Just wondering if anyone is to nelson bay or port stevens for schoolies...with 6 beaches to visit who says that fun cant be found and also the cops and all arnt strict on anything..had a few mates go last year and they said they had alot of house parties and met alot of people...so yeh just wondering if anyones going

The Bay Rats are the local drug fucked kids, they cause nothing but shit around here and are always in trouble, they go looking for trouble too, if they weren't around then PS would be a nice spot to visit and live in.

BTW Norah Head is on the Central Cosat

As a resident I'd strongly advise anyone from coming here for schoolies. While the area itself is really beautiful and the beaches are great, the local drug community (known locally as the "Bay Rats") have been known to give visitors a bad time here. They're predominantly violent, racist, abusive ice-heads that even have been known to give locals a hard time.
They have done everything from physically assult locals and tourists, racially abuse foreign visitors, vandalise businesses, and just cause great annoyance and unrest within the community.

Initially it is your decision but I say choose a safer destination to celebrate schoolies, I don't think anyone would like to spend schoolies in a hospital or at the police because of idiots who ruined your fun.

I just booked our accommodation for there, were staying at Fingal Bay and its like right next to the beach or something!

Im so excited!!

I am concerned about these bay rat people, but considering i come from a city much the same, except we dont have beaches, i dont think theres anything to worry that much about, besides we dont plan on partying too hard, and i signed the agreement that we wouldn't create excess noise or disturb the neighbours.

I'm also a resident, and I think anyone from schoolies will have lots of fun here, it is really beautiful and the majority of people here are lovely.

What dates is everyone going for? Were going the week after the HSC finishes, so from the 15th onwards. I don't think many people go away this week.
Heaps of my friends have been up there and they said its a great place, no more of a drug problem than anywhere else.
Lol were going to do surfing lessons and sand boarding! So pumped. hahaha
