All that Matthw Johns did, was have a lapse in concentration and have sex with some chick whilst married.

He doesn't owe anybody other than his wife an apology, which he made 7 years ago.

This has caused undue pressure on his wife, his children (who are now old enough to read newspapers) and his career. He had consensual sex with a woman, and left the situation after the others entered the room. He had no obligation to tell them to stop, unless she made it clear that she wanted them to stop.

The original investigation says that she was encouraging them all to have sex with her. This has nothing to do with Johns.

To do this, generally, having emotionally scarring gang bangs as a core team building exercise is not a good thing. Also glassing your girlfriend is a bad idea too. So is walking into some random girl's room and groping her.

Therefore, being a participant is one of these gang bangs is not good either.

So, if you hold a position of prominence in the NRL and have been a party to a gang bang, you can probably expect this shit to hit the fan.

Johns is just the scapegoat for the bigger issue. Even for 7 years ago a report into sex in footy culture is warranted, the media reaction it got is slightly off the point and excessive. But people are talking about it, it's an issue which is now going to be dealt with more strongly, so the initial report did what it meant to do, show society that this kind of thing happens and that is predominately in footy culture
