I do 12 units and I get free periods. And I don't want to do 13 units. Also, Etension sbujects are Extension, meant for more intelligent students (not necessarily the case, but it generally is). Since I can do well in such subjects, I take them.i wonder why everyone is mad with ext subs & 13units?

UAI's occur in increments of 0.05.i really don't think its worth doing more units than you need to in year 12.
i hate this 'just in case' attitude.
your not going to fuck up, and your less likely to when you have more time to pour into your subjects, you don't need insurance on your HSC, youll stiill get a UAI of 99.919293949549
EDIT: unless your actually keen as mustard to do a subject... i will probably end up doing 11U
i want to do 4U english, mathematics, society, mod history, ext history, PDHPE.
i will definately drop chemistry and either maths or society, not too sure about ext history as yet.
OMFG everyone's hero!I'm thinking:
Mathematics Extension 1
Mathematics Extension 2
Physics
Chemistry
Biology
Advanced English
typical combination that attracts a low UAIAtm I do
Standard English
General Maths
IPT
Business Services
Legal Studies
Society and Culture.
Most likely dropping legal.
do mathematicsi'm currently considering:
mathematics/general mathematics (unsure yet)
english adv.
ancient history
geography
economics
extension history
possibly doing a fast-paced studies of religion course instead of bio since i'm currently self teaching bio because my teacher is terrible and can't teach.
i'll just wait and see how the yearly exams go and stuff.
In response to your query regarding extension history; there is much more to it than just the major work (which mind you is internally marked unlike the Extension 2 English project which is externally marked). In extension history you not only complete the project but also study two components in class namely 'What is history?' (where you study the nature of history and explore the infinitely fascinating question of does history exist) and a Case Study e.g. At my school they do Elizabeth where you explore historians and historiography relating to the person/event. Note that there is an HSC exam (2 hours I think) for Extension History which includes two sections; an essay on the first component i.e. What is history where you include your in-class knowledge and include an unseen text and an essay on your case study.i'm doing okay, 90%-96% for history, english and ext, art, sor but i got 40% for ext maths (death!) and my yr 12 rank for adv.maths isn't so great but hopefully i'll go better next year and chemistry is possibly the hardest subject ever , i got 50% in half yearly and that was 5th in the grade! (after 95, 93, 81 and 90 percent) big fat gap haha.
i wish i could drop chemistry but i need it for uni, aswell as ext maths I was thinking of dropping ext maths in favour for ext history next year, maybe.
i'm glad it's not just me who's finding chem impossibly difficult!
what exactly do you have to do for ext history? i heard it's similiar to ext 2 english, just handing in a massive essay at the end or what?
