Thought I should start a thread since it starts next week.
Should be a close series imo.
Australia are lacking a quality spinner and Hauritz hasn't been doing too well in the tour games. He still has one chance left I spose.

Thoughts guys on who will win?
Who do you think will get the final pace spot Lee or Clark?
etc etc :)

Should be a cracker... hopefully it'll be as tight as the previous series in England. Edgbaston!

O.K Watson is out! Considering this, the team should be:

1. Hughes
2. Katich
3. Ponting
4. Hussey
5. Clarke
6. North (If McDonald is picked i'll spew)
7. Haddin
8. Johnson
9. Lee
10. Clark
11. Siddle

Looks like Lee is out with a side strain :(
Possibly for 3 tests.

Well I guess they are gonna have to put in Hauritz now or Hilfenhaus as a wildcard.

Anyone but that useless cunt hilfenhaus. If they put him in we might as well just give them the runs and save the players.

it'll definitely be hauritz for the first test then (it's supposed to be a spinner's paradise apparently)

haha, that'd give us north, hauritz, katich and clarke as spin options for the first test.

I reckon play hilfy for the 2nd test, see how he goes. If he comes good, keep him for the 3rd, if not then put hauritz back in. If neither of them go well or outstandingly, bring lee back for the 4th when he gets fit.

Heard Jim on the radio before saying he thought it would be a pretty benign pitch. More to the point I don't think I'm alone when I say that I don't understand how Hauritz could ever force the wicket of a specialist batsman. It's not as though he's Clarrie Grimmet just tying them up until their inability to score frustrates them and diminishes his concentration, scoring at 3 an over against Hauritz is common. Honestly I think you'd get more benefit from an extra batsman than playing Hauritz.

Hilfenhaus I haven't seen bowl for a while but English conditions will probably assist him.More so than Hauritz.

Hilfenhaus is in fact a very good test bowler. Not so much for one dayers, which I'm assuming is why you're stating that he's a "useless cunt". Genuine swing bowler + English conditions, could just be the thing Australia are looking for.

Having said that, I don't think he'll be picked to replace Lee. It's looking pretty likely that Hauritz will be picked :mad1:. Don't know why Krejza wasn't given more of a chance, he's a FAR better spinner than Hauritz

+1 :)

They only put him out of the team because he got hit for a bit against South Africa. Speaking like that then Hauritz should have been taken out of the team a few times. He just isn't attacking enough.
Although they both can bat alright with Krejza making a ton in Pakistan and Hauritz making a few half venturies here nd there.

haurtiz is a defensive spinner - no good

i want to see 4 man pace attack, clarke and north and katich are enough spin options.

Clark as 12th man = ridiculous
I agree and there is no doubt in my mind that i'd pick him.

With that being said Hilfenhaus has shown a bit of promise. Some nice shape against the left handers, very lbw type bowling.

Most definitely, I'd rather see Hauritz left out and Clark coming in and let Katich and Clarkje pick up the spin duties

Don't know why Punter's so reluctant to go with Katich and Clarkey using spin at times. Not sure about Hilfenhaus being in the team in front of Clark, but we'll just have to see.

England batting firsttttt.

EDIT: Spectacular catch by Huss to get rid of Cook. Perhaps Hilfenhaus' selection was justified.

Probably thought Hilfenhaus was the best of the bowlers on Day One. Hauritz struggled in his spells, despite picking up Pietersen. 7/336 at stumps - evenly balanced.
