Yes, YOU'RE MY MAN! =] Not sure bout how I went on some of the other qs....

also that parabola was dodgy... I was originally thinking that it was a difference of two squares (it looked like the roots/zeroes were equal negative) - but then again never trust scale.
By inspection:

a < 0

0 < c

b = 0

a + b < c [summing them]

a + b - c < 0

LOL, what did u guys put for question 4? Half my class got it wrong :p

Re: How did people go in the maths comp today?

q 25) for the f(x) n-fold question i'm sure the answer was 2

for fn(x) = x

Linear/linear=x
making a quadratic resulting in 2 solutions

e.g. (x + 6)/x = x
x^2=x+6
X^2 - x - 6 =0
(x-3)(x+2)=0
two solution x=3, -2

q 18) Answer is 4, i think

Find the numbers which multiply to become 60 (2 numbers only)

2 and 30
3 and 20
6 and 10
15 and 4
5 and 12
1 and 60

Using reciprocals you will get three to have 60 as the denominator

e.g. 2/30 + 30/2 = ....
6/10 + 10/6 = .....
Those are reducible

Re: How did people go in the maths comp today?

Does anybody have an idea for the q30? Knowing the properties of 2009 didn't seem to help me much >< and 28 was obscure, possibly poor wording/ comprehension...

The last 3 were so hard, didn't even bother with them after reading them over.

I was really close to the last one but the "no congruence" nugget was a kick in the balls.

haha, I was reading the question and when the question stated the number "2009" I was just like, I'm not wasting my time there

They always have one question where the year makes an appearance. In this case there were two.
