Seriously, they will ask for your u.a.i especially westpac. if you say 70% but then youve got distinctions and high distinctions throughout uni and impress them at the interview im serious they dont give a crap. i know its really irrelevant me saying all this bs because so many people come on here and say it but its true. i know people that could have got into usyd and unsw that didnt because they didnt want to leave newcastle. and once they got their jobs they were glad because the outcome was the same.

its how you do in uni thats so important. i feel comfortable doing commerce at newcastle and transferring to business/law. good degree, good marks and no ones even going to care. as if theyre going to discriminate you if youve got heaps good marks, awards throughout school, worked in your last 2 yrs.

university of newcastle. i go there. teaching quality is brilliant.
It's funny how it takes a lot of students until they reach assessment centres/final interviews for grad programs to realise that, in the end, they aren't assured of anything and that they will always face competition from the non-G08's for positions.

Universities are a business. Unfortunately these motives are more pronounced at some institutions than others, and it's not until you start going there that you realise where their interests lie.

So.. um, does anyone know which law school offers the best course? Or are we just going to continue petty arguments over sources, peoples opinions and which university someone attends?

Or where I could find it. And please don't say the good uni guide, that site is impossible to navigate and I know you're being sarcastic. All I want is a straight answer, preferably with factual backup.

Just maybe? please?

I wouldn't open that can of worms, no one can really tell you. Look at the ATAR you can get, which uni's offer the other degree or major you want to do, travel etc...

Thanks.
Just one more potential war question:
I'm considering a laws/psychology course. Is this good, bad or indifferent? I'm not sure what I'd want to specialise in when I graduate, thats all.

The non-law degree will not make a difference to your law degree so go for interest...you'll need to stay motivated for 5 years so pick what suits your ability and interests best.

BTW in terms of prestige, take it with a grain of salt...MQ is supposed to be better that UWS (often reiterated by my academics at MQ) and personally I found the UWS law faculty to be better funded, staffed and the program was better. Keep in mind also that if you hate a particular uni you can transfer but no one can tell you which one you will prefer, some of us like a practical approach, others like a philosphical approach etc...

Thanks again! Although not solving my indecisiveness, I do have a whole year to think about it. And am tempted by the uni of newcastle, mainly because I grew up there and know my way around okay.

Thanks again again :D
