yeah what shane said basically. i'll get my full licence in about a year and derestricting is apparently super easy. i'm not planning on selling it for at least a few years but i figure the whole lams approval deal can only help resale value.

Snowfox, if the inlets on the carby's are cracked, you can seal them with silicon.

It will fix them, for $10, not $600. I guarantee it.

Suzuki restricted offers would be better if you plan on keeping for a significant amount of time imo

Or if you are that close to fulls get a hooligan machine (motard) if it won't be your main vehicle

yeah i looked at the gsx650f too but i prefer the hyo for now. lighter, cheaper, easy/free to derestrict plus i think it's marginally better looking.

sure the hyo will probably fall apart but whatever

derestricting it smashes the lams resale value right off. If you want anything close to what you paid for a restricted 650, you don't derestrict it. The high prices are fed by the lams market. Nobody with a full license is going to give two shits about a korean 650 that couldn't hold a candle to a jap 600.

I'd go with quik. A used bike will hold damn near close to 100% of its value come resale, in 2, 3, 4 whatever years. And as for that whole more power when you derestrict it thing, you'll get bored of it heaps quick.

Not if you don't tell the rta...

May be different with the new efi ones though.

The government are cracking down on "restricted" LAM's bikes, and the problem of riders derestricting potent bikes while they're on their P's, which was something blind freddy could have seen coming.

iirc this months TW had a bit about how QLD is going to stop manufacturers from selling special restricted versions of bikes, which is an entirely retarded move. The only LAM's bikes will be stuff that is <150kw/tonne in their basic form, like the GS500.

Suzuki at least are trying to prevent this by making their dealerships pass on the details of any bikes that get derestricted to the RTA.

lol honestly, you're not going to give a fuck about any of this once you get it
whens it delivered?

ps, when they go for pink slip checks, they do check the restriction plate, afaik. on the upside you wouldn't need one for 3 or 4 years, so offload it before then and let someone else worry about it lololol

EDIT: that wont work, as you said, anyone with a screwdriver and a spare 10 mins could do it. personally, i dont see the problem. proved that you derestricted it, your license is gone (7 points and like 1k fine if its anything like the turbo/v8 law for p platers). find out after an accident and all of a sudden you're not covered for CTP or comprehensive

their risk to take

Throttle cable holder was cleanly snapped off the carbi, needed replacing.

Dont matter, resale price is still ~ $3K
