Don't be a douchebag. Every leftie I've spoken to so far is pretty much just as surprised and uncomfortable with this as you are.
I'm sorry, but I'm pretty sure Obama came into power from a wave of support from the left? He definitely didn't gain support from the majority of the right. We can't have already forgotten the fanfare of his inauguration?

And all those huge rallies he addressed in Europe bore socialist banners etc. When he went to more right ring countries like Israel, he was booed.

True, the left have now realised that he is as incapable of genuine change as his predecessor. It did take them a while though.

I'm aware of the fallacies in my argument by so broadly referring to 'the left,' as obviously there wasn't widespread support, but I'm convinced that the majority of the ass-kissery he receives is from the left, at least the American left.

Also lol at his claim that "appeasement" will bring about more attacks on America. No country in the world could attack America and small terrorist cells are going to be more of an issue when you keep invading shit.
Not yet at least. America is in a state of decline, the time is coming where they will be diminished enough. And I didn't specifically talk about attacks on America, I was more referring to attacks on American 'interests' such as Georgia, Israel, Afghanistan etc.

And when has appeasement ever worked? Did we learn nothing from Chamberlain?!

lol?

His negligent appeasement of almost every rogue state will lead America to many more conflicts than they are already in by the time he is finished as President.

The lefties don't like him because of some renewed love of America. They hate America. They hated it under Bush, who although was a twat, was a twat who represented a fierce and proud America. Obama is the herald of a deteriorated America, which is much more familiar to them.

As my favourite bloggist wrote;

"Falling economy, rising unemployment, deceitful Left-wing politicians running the show—and record deficits—while seizing private businesses, intimidating their shareholders into silence and submission, and devising ever more audacious taxpayer money-grabbing schemes compared to which Bernie Maddof's Ponzi looks like amateur night: now, thank to Obama, [European] citizens can truly identify with America."
pretty sure this guy is an Israeli military spokesperson pretending to be a school student

Dude, Hitler was the greatest leader the world has ever seen. Sure, he went on a little bit of a rampage- but the fact he did it legally is pretty amazing.

*legally does not mean he held international law.

i think it's stupid, and de-values the prize in my eyes, he hasnt done anything of worth except make everybody feel all warm and fuzzy, on The View they were saying that it was a "post-racial american" now, bullshit.
I think it's been devalued ever since Henry Kissinger got one. And if not that, then Yasser Arafat certainly sealed the deal.

Henry Kissinger, mass murderer & war criminal, also won the award in 1973... so Obama winning is par for the course. It's 1984 now, so everything is backwards: war = peace, slavery = freedom, ignorance is strength.

For anyone who still thinks Obama is somehow different to all those who preceded him, you are seriously deluded. Get your fkn head out of the sand.

Whether or not he had any achievements aside, the fact that he is Commander-in-Chief of armed forces current actively engaged in combat should have disqualified him from being considered.

How can you be furthering the cause of peace if you personally are leading soldiers at war?

It's amazing how you guys seem to know so much about the Nobel Peace Prize, why haven't you won it yet?

Who would you suggest get it rather than him?

Like it or not, his election is the first step, if not more, in a new direction for America. A country that, unfortunately, has unprecedented influence in the world. Ergo, his election will affect (beneficially) world peace.

Besides, who better to give the Prize to than someone who's dedicated his whole life to helping society?

It hasn't been "easy" for him, he's worked his arse off for the good of others.

If you don't feel he's strictly done anything to directly bring aid global peace, then pay attention, coz he will.

And dude, I hope that "I heart Israel" pic is a joke, coz if it isn't, please don't ever pretend to know anything about peace again.

Someone, perhaps, who has actually attributed something to peace?

Like it or not, his election is the first step, if not more, in a new direction for America. A country that, unfortunately, has unprecedented influence in the world. Ergo, his election will affect (beneficially) world peace.
He has not only continued GWB's policies, he has expanded on them. Not only has he done nothing he said he would do, in most cases he has done just the opposite of his promises. Iraq 'withdrawal' became another 3-4-5 year projection into the future... then he puts another 40,000 troops in Afghanistan. He continued the policy of torture and unlawful imprisonment... need I go on?

Besides, who better to give the Prize to than someone who's dedicated his whole life to helping society?
Are you kidding? I don't even know where to begin telling you how wrong that statement is... the exact opposite is true if you do any research on the man.

It hasn't been "easy" for him, he's worked his arse off for the good of others.
For the good of whom, exactly?

If you don't feel he's strictly done anything to directly bring aid global peace, then pay attention, coz he will.
At the moment, however, he's done the exact opposite to 'contributing' to global peace.
