Or has Maths had gone harder comparing to the 2008 paper.
I do 5.1 course and comparing to what I've seen in 2008 paper, it was very easy.

Not really... I always get pretty good Marks in Maths (5.1). I just find this test hard comparing to the 2008 one.
Maybe they changed the stuff or something >__>
Probably people who did the test may know...

Yeah, the Board of Studies have been changing their approach as of late. I'm sure you'll be fine.

Wasn't there a new exam commitee or something this year? Maybe that's why it was harder.

Although Maths wasn't hard at all...

I know there was for us HSCers and our exams seemed pretty darn odd this yr.

The math paper wasn't that bad. THe only part I really had trouble was with the final question, regarding the formula to solve the number of variations in cube/square patterns.

Oh gosh, I remember solving the previous two or three on my calculator...

1^2 + 2^2 + 3^2 + ... 6^2 = 91

*yes! finally! ^___^*

The test that was a bit disappointing for me was the geo test.
I was full prepared to dish out an essay of urban growth/decline, which was a major element in previous papers.

Congratulations, all Yr. 10's :D

Except for the modern paper - i literally wanted to hug it as soon as i saw the questions XD Also loved English, but that was only because they were the questions i was hoping for hehe

But yeah, the new exam committees/approaches probably made the exam different to other years and hence "harder"

Nah, they'll probably work it out and just write it on for you :)

How was non-calculator?
Non-calculator was nice. It had a few easy questions, some which would challenge a whole lot of people and then ofcourse a question almost nobody could work out.

Its a shame though because last question we had to draw arcs with our protractors and colour where they overlap. Me, atleast one of my friends, and presumably a whole lot of people coloured only the parts the arc didnt reach.:cold:

That question was something about a park where they had lookout stands to watch out for fires and what the range was they could look at.

I dont know if it was just me who noticed (maybe im getting confused lmao) but i found that this years non calculator had more practical questions in it, didnt have as much obscure patterns and weird stuff as i remember previous papers having.

Yes I noticed that it had much more of an applied focus than a patterns one,
which was different to all the past s.c. papers I did (which was only three, although they were consecutive years) and my trial
I tanked on it big time because it got me very phased.
I coloured in where the arcs intersected.

its weird, coz i do 5.3 math and i thought that the sc math test ws harder than the 1 i do in 5.3, probly coz advance math in my school didnt learn the basics. Every1 in advance math went crazy over it, but 5.2 and 5.1 found it quite easy :S

Agreed.

What do you mean by the colouring of the arc?

Agreed.

I dont have the question here but apparently you were only meant to colour the part where the two arks met. Remember you had to make 6cm arks for that question?
