ok, so during the main round, we all get one uni offer right?
what if we reject that offer? do we get an offer to our next preference?

no. you submit preferences (i think 10 max)

they look at your first preference. if you got the ATAR, then you are offered a position in that uni program and you are taken out the equation. if you didnt meet the cutoff, they look at your 2nd preference and repeat.

you shouldnt even consider rejecting an offer because the offer you were given is the best offer that you can get given your ATAR and your preferences.

if you got an offer for your 1st preference, but really wanted to be given an offer for your 2nd preference, then why didnt you swap your 1st and 2nd preferences before the main round?

Merely asking, because the responder was HSC '08. Therefore, they were probably recounting the system they used. :)

Ah well. :) I stopped at 7, which was more than enough for me anyway.

TBH, 7 was hard for me.

I basically had two courses I wanted, and then a single degree version of one of them. So 4 were basically fillers.

what if we accept 2nd pref in main round.

can you be offered 1st pref later in the late round?

well theoretically, say your 1st pref was commerce at unsw and 2nd pref was commerce at uts and you got commerce at uts as your offer but you were next in line for unsw commerce (that is, if there was one more spot available, you would have got the offer), and then if everyone that got unsw commerce rejects their offer and changes their preferences, its possible you might get your 1st preference in the late round (i think, i might have missed something)

this is the edge case though, possible but unlikely

What was the screw up? Can't you just call them and say you screwed up, and ask them to change whatever details you stuffed up?

If say you were offered your third preference and accept that you might be offered a position in either your 1st or 2nd preference if, after first round offers, there are spaces that you now qualify for but you won't be offered a lower preference than 3rd in the later rounds as you have already accepted that 3rd round offer.

I did! well I sent them an email and their reply was basically "It was your fault" so now I don't want to mess up with UAC in case they might hate on me or something and not offer me any uni courses (crazy I know lol) but I think what happened was they transferred my $60 and now I have to pay the remainder.
