what are the sorts of things you learn when studying a english major at uni?

i am told is absolutely nothing like how they teach english at school which is very good imo. an english major will really just consist of critical interpretations of literature. so you'll read your classics, study the canon, learn different schools of thinking, read essays by authors, whatever. if you in the least are interested in reading it shouldn't be hard, should be fun
