Just know beta glucose and cellulose chain to be safeCBB making a new thread or searching if a thread already existed.
FOR the HSC, are we required to know the alpha and beta glucose stuff?? and beta,1-4-glycosidic links???
cause i remember it but will we ever be required to draw it?
yeaah... would we be required to draw it ?CBB making a new thread or searching if a thread already existed.

Alpha is down, beta is up (OH group at the right end)i got the maquarie study guide in front of me and it has 2 diagrams. one labelled alpha and the other beta, and i can't seem to find the difference. and there is digram with cellulose and it labelled the 2 hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom that will make up that water for condensation polymerisation and they called it beta-1,4-glycosidic... i was just asking, how much do we need to know on the structures and technical names of things.......
to make it easier, what are we required to know??
kk thanks!!Alpha is down, beta is up (OH group at the right end)
You need to know:
Simplified beta glucose and cellulose structures
molecular formula
You don't need to know:
technical names (i.e. beta-1,4-glycosidic)
is cellulose made from beta glucose only?
