Has anyone's ranks just jumped from REALLY low in the first term of their HSC year to REAL high or relatively high in their last term? Say, because you stuffed your first round of exams, your subject's rank just dropped, but by the end of the year you've done excellently in that subject and raised your rank?

I'm just curious because I stuffed my first exam for a subject and so very sad atm... I want to get band 6 :(

I stuffed up in a few assessments I think...

I am very sad too.

how much was the assessment weighted?
remember that we still have the externals which are worth 50%

How bad are we talking about here? :D
You can still get a band 6, if you really try :)

If some of your assessments were worth only 10-15% then that is most certainly okay. Because after you complete your 100% worth of assessments, it is then divided to make it 50% and your OTHER 50% comes from the actual HSC exams.
So the first exams are not really that important because some would be only worth 5/7%. But MAKE SURE you do well in your next assessments and continually do well throughout the year. You can't make too many mistakes :)

So please, don't stress. You are okay :)

BTW: I've known a few people who have gone from last to 2nd or 3rd.

if you've messed up badly, probably won't be looking at 1st, but there's definitely a chance to still make it near the top. :)
