What are some ideas/principles that allows children and young athletes to participate safely in resistance training?

Education is the basic factor. ie.:
- Equipment aren't toys
- Form/technique is vitally important
- Your diet is important
- Changes don't happen immediately
- Rest is important
- Drugs are bad (with the exception of some supplements)
- Full body exercise is needed. Only strengthening one area/muscle group is not good.

No, I do not. I have read a bit on resistance training in my spare time. :)

I remembered another thing:

You should also not perform the same exercises in every routine over and over again. Your muscles become "lazy" and do not benefit as much from a varied workout routine.
