True but it depend on what kind of restaurant it is... i have experience for 3-4 years because of my rent "Asian" restaurant but when i try a steakhouse as kitchen hand it was really really hard and frustrating but ya..

Ehh have you experience big rush where there ALOT of customers like daily... maybe seasonal such as summer season in south coast for example where there is ALOT of tourist//

I work at a 5* hotel... there are 2 awesome apprentices working in the main restaurant

They don't have to wash dishes ('kitchenhand' is a completely separate job) and they get heaps of hours (restaurant is open about 16hrs a day)

I'd also suggest not applying to Asian restaurants (unless you can speak Mandarin, Hindi or Thai and don't mind unpaid overtime)

As to where to live... I doubt you'd be able to afford much around the inner-city.
Will you be eligible for any centrelink payments?

I agree with looking for sharehouses along the train lines, or maybe try tempe/marrickville (which has the cool young vibe of Newtown at a much cheaper price)

bankstown is not 2 hours to the city. More like 45 minutes from the station fool.

there and back.

including traffic.
Um, that's completely normal in the city. Really on the better side, a lot of people travel much, much further than that every day.

Welcome to the real world.
