Does the Cambridge 4 unit maths book have a lot of questions that arent in the HSC syllabus?

Thats what my maths teacher said, and told us to skip quite a few (a lot but not HEAPS) of the questions in the complex number section and the conics section.
Anyone confirm this? OR is he just lazy?

My 4unit teacher is absolutely brilliant. With the really hard and out-there questions, she can find ways to solve them with HSC syllabus methods. Obviously higher level maths may make it much simpler/quicker, but most questions in Cambridge can be answered! You just need to think really creatively!

If theres questions from the textbook that you need help with, just post them up... Many people will gladly help you, including myself :] We go through nearly all of the questions in the textbook, so yeaah :]

Too true. The authors of the Cambridge textbooks are absolute legends. Are any of them still teaching in schools?

Actually I didn't find it all that useful - Cambridge 3U was much more useful. For 4U I preferred Terry Lee and other books. Cambridge 4U was a bit dodgy imo =/

exactly , because the 3u and 4u books are written by different authors
and the 4u one doesn't really explain well , not mentioning the dodgy questions which sometimes are wrong
get a terry lee for ur personal study

the only problem with terry lee is that explanation isn't that great either
and that the questions just jump HEAPS in terms of difficulty...
it's good for questions but don't use it as a starting point, I'd probably prefer fitzpatrick as a starting point (if you really need to)

I suggest try to find notes on the particular topics you are learning, since I don't really believe that any textbook explains the concepts properly...
though tbh, cambridge and terry lee are good for the questions...

I rarely use cambridge 4U, not that great, explanations are pretty shit imo. no worked solutions either :(

There are worked solutions out there somewhere for Cambridge 4u. With these, the book becomes a great resource, however I agree that the 3u book is set out much more clearer and concepts are explained thoroughly yet simply.

Shut up about your math teachers for a second. The 4U book is pretty poorly written, and the style of question asked is generally good but, there are exceptions. Complex numbers is pretty spot on, and so is polynomials, but some questions for mechanics are nothing like the HSC ones, and some stuff in conics is poorly done indeed.

If your maths teacher says to skip questions in complex numbers, then he probably can't do it himself.
