I don't think the monetary status should differentiate students on whether they should receive help or not. Genius2014, I understand why you can be frustrated in helping when you are directing your anger at Bored of studies but you shouldn't target your anger at students. Whether they decide to help the people who helped them out is totally up to their discretion, maybe they don't even have access to their funds because their parents are in charge, there are a lot of reasons and one of them being they are faggots but we don't have the right to make that assumption.

Why are you automatically assuming that you and Drongoski are the only competent mathematicians on this site? People such as ohexploitable and Bored of Fail 1,2,3,...,n, and many others are as capable as you guys are. Each year members who have been helped by this site return to help some more people. I am one of those people. I may not help a lot, but at least I try.
And maybe some questions are too hard for most people, but so what? If Drongoski willingly volunteers his time to help us, no matter what the reason, then that should be good enough for you and everyone else on this site. It's great that you're looking out for him, but maybe his priorities aren't quite the same as yours.

I just hope that everyone shows appreciation for the helper because, as genius2014 and genius2011 (same guy?) pointed out, some people do take advantage of the help that people provide on this site and rarely contribute back.

Please leave me out of this. I have never made such claims nor am I a member of his team. I know there is a current crop of very good posters: deterministic, ohexploitable, jyu to name an obvious few. I prefer not to be compared to any poster, favourably or otherwise. If you follow this thread, you'll know I am only an innocent bystander.

So leave me out of this.

Are you so sure about that? . Will you find anyone with anywhere near as much dedication as passion as me or drongoski?? Yes there will still be a few noobs around that can answer VERY basic questions but whenever anyone posts a harder question that requires either a diagram or binomial theorm then it will definately be a while before it gets answer ( if its answered at all ). I dont know if you will be able to find someone with anywhere near as much patience I had with explaining addition of fractions with brightside( before he was a jerk ) lol.
I am absolutely sure about that. Do not underestimate the dedication of members on this site. Learn to accept that there are/will be members who are more dedicated and more patient than you (especially so now given your recent attitude). I have seen many members on this site who have already shown far more dedication than you ever have.
I am one of the very few ( if only ) that have actually went to the trouble of scanning pictures and shit and have even stayed home on university mornings 10-20minutes to answer questions. But this year I wont be, I have been putting everyone before me for far too long and look at whats happened, I have been taken advantage of, its time to show a bit of selfishness and study a bit more instead of wasting my time helping people here, hopefully I can get an average mark of 85 this year at uni.
If you consider it a waste of time then why did you take the time to attack other members, intimidate those who ask simple questions and piss everyone off in general when you could easily be studying early for uni or working?

Thats what I am banking on, if you dont answer the easiesr ones then all of brightsides calls for help will go unanswered XD
This contradicts your earlier statement that "Yes there will still be a few noobs around that can answer VERY basic questions".

No , I am merely doing what no one else on here has, I am acknowledging his knowledge and abilitiy as a tutor, if no one else on here is willing to try him out in real life then they shouldnt be getting help from him at all. If they are going to pay $1500-2000/term to a tutoring comapny, then they should stay with that company and no be asking questions here. If anyone feels the need that they need to ask further questions here then they obviously are not getting enough after hours support from the company, and thus they should quit the tutor company and do tutoring with either drongoski or me where there would obviously be a huge capacity for online support after class hours
The flaw in your argument is that you have assumed that EVERY PERSON who asks a question on this forum pays $1500-2000/term to a tutoring company. There is no evidence to support your allegations. A lot of people who ask questions here don't have tutors and you tend to attack them and tell them off to get a tutor.

Also, you've assumed that just because someone doesn't want to do tutoring with you then they automatically have taken advantage of you. There are other reasons why students would not take up tutoring with a person like you. These include location (which is the main one), costs, unmatchable time availabilities, poor marketing strategy and assessment of your attitude in this forum. Just because they don't take up tutoring with you doesn't mean that they are taking advantage of you. Most members who ask questions don't repeatedly rely on this site for the answers. Generally most people only ask questions every now and then and there is nothing wrong with that. Yet the moment a member asks a question (even for the first time), you go on the attack.

Can't speak for the others. But for me, please do not refer to me as a mathematician; I'm not worthy of that appellation. I only happen to know some high school maths and a little beyond.

Give some examples? :p

yes , I will admit that deterministic is very good, and there are maybe one or two others. But apart from that who is there?

Ok , there is ohexploitable and SpiralFlex , but that havent even finished hsc or done like even half the topics :p, and they still make noob mistakes.

You know that you are really skating on thin ice when you say that, and its quotes like that that make it easier for me to turn my back on this site and all the students going to the tutoring companies.

I have been revising my university work, but there is no point smashing it too hard, in my breaks I have been on here to vent my frustrations.

With regards to "working" , I cannot get alot of shifts where I work, it is a no brainer retail job, I am too expensive to hire when they can just get some 16yr old at half the rate they have to pay me, I have been getting like 5hrs a week over the hollidays ( 10hrs some weeks if I am lucky ), thats the primary reason why I wanted to get into tutoring, to get extra work over the hollidays with the hope of changing jobs altogether.

This contradicts your earlier statement that "Yes there will still be a few noobs around that can answer VERY basic questions".

I thought I would possibly get that response when I wrote that. ok , let me reword that. There will be people able to response to piss easy questions like "differentiate x^2 e^(x)" , but I doubt you will find anyone on here that will take the time like I did to explain simplications of fractions or that 1+1 =2 to mrbrightside :p .

Just search all the questions he has ever asked on the 2unit forum ( when you can see the posts again ) and I gaurantee you I was the one who answered, and I went completely out of my way to try and make sure he understood ( however , he obviously didnt, thus why he is going to fail his half yearly for maths soon :p )

That guy is as thick as 10 planks of wood and he still doesnt understand that its 10times easier to explain this stuff in real life than over the net .

well alot of them do, and maybe they should get a tutor instead of scabbing here XD.

poor marketing strategy and assessment of your attitude in this forum
"marketing strategy"- well thats just bullshit to start with

but with regards to attitude, yes I understand why I havent got any students in the last 3months because I have been venting frustrations on this site , but I would like to know why I didnt get any the 6,7 or 8months before I started venting.

Also, main reason why I am venting is because it turns out that all the people advertising tutoring on here with 99.95ATARS (which are the ones that are never participating on the forums ) are full of students before the year even begins, but there are others such as me and drongoski that struggle to even get one person!.

I can provide tons of examples; the main two that come to mind are Isplicer and Namu. Isplicer has never answered any questions on here, and whoa namu may have answered some questions like 2years ago when he was god of maths but he hasn’t made any posts since ( except posts regard to tutoring ) . Especially with regard to Isplicer, he has all those bullshit links in his sig to his website and he treats it like a million dollar business charging $40+/hr and everything while someone charging $25/hr cnt even get one person.

That’s what pisses me off more than anything, all the tutors that never answer questions on here are booked out and brag about their 99.95ATARS and HD WAMS (because they have been so selfish to achieve them) while all the other people that are contributing, helping out and still get reasonable marks at uni ( yes not HD average , but still reasonable, considering they are not studying 24/7 and are giving up their time to help others ) get no students >: ( .

But man that was epic LOL when benji said: " People such as ohexploitable and Bored of Fail 1,2,3,...,n, and many others are as capable as you guys are ". Must mean that I am pretty bloody good , but obviously not good enough for anyone to actually try me in real life.

I think you've answered your own question. Why don't you study like crazy and get a HD WAM instead of helping people online. This way people will seek your tuition.

so thats the mighty secret of getting students, being a selfish prick, well then I should be well on my way if I continue to piss people off like I have in the past 3months.

I was hoping that students would be smart enough to see through the 99.95atars and hd wams , but obviously not :|

Tbh, the guys that get 99.95 and/or HD WAMs work their ass off for it. So they should have a lot of specialist knowledge in their subject areas and probably do. Plus, they deserve some monetary compensation for the loss in time, social life, sport/recreation time etc. for the year/s they spent studying.

If anything they should be punished for being so selfish and arrogant

You don't really know that they're arrogant and selfish. They just worked hard. What if they wanted to get into a double degree with Law or wanted to get into medicine so they could help ppl.

Also, I would like to know why some of my posts in this thread have been deleted ( and im assuming it was done by trebla , as he is moderator of the maths section ).

I distinctly remember having a post in response to "hscishard's" comment - " you think we need you to pass our hsc ".

It was something along the lines of " Well I cant actually remember the time when you ( and many other users ) would PM me questions asking for help , but now I wonder why I bothered because you are all jerks now "

Are you trying to edit and remove certain posts of mine to try and make me look like the bad guy.

Also trebla I am greatly amused by your "we can just replace you attitude", and I think benji's comment:

" People such as ohexploitable and Bored of Fail 1,2,3,...,n, and many others are as capable as you guys are."

highlights just how wrong you are :p

Go all the way back to the "random-1005" era.
I remember you posted shit. People didn't like your shit. You kinda started it. Now go back in time by propelling yourself to a velocity approx 1.01c.

I don't get it. You can go back in time by travelling at a speed over the speed of light, but as you approach the speed of light you gain mass and you can't go any faster. WTF can someone clear this up for me?

No implication on gaining mass okay...seriously
