Hi all,

I may hopefully have the chance of changing from standard English to advanced English.
My current English class is full of kids who dont really care and im praying that my standard teacher will let me change to advanced.
Is the workload a lot more in advanced?

Aspects of Standard English is common to Advanced, you wouldn't be doing anything too different. Also in Advanced, Shakespeare is compulsory.

In Advanced, I find you're just working at a faster pace. That is due to having a class full of people that want to be there. The texts you analyse may be a tad more difficult, but honestly, nothing to be worried about.

They usually expect you to have a greater understanding of the text and you may have to analyse it a bit more than standard. Check the syllabus.

Definitely do advanced! It's not that much harder and its pretty similar in terms of workloads, content etc. But teachers expect more from advanced, which is good.

It's still late to change and I'm surprised they let someone change to adv.

Not necessarily more work. Just more competition.

remember its much rarer to get band 6 in std. than in adv.

and the scaling is the same for both

the work is not harder at all

It's harder before the aligning in Standard is poor compared to Advanced.
