It's a strange political phenomena that such a misogynistic person can lead a major party after the second feminist revolution.

i made a post on getup's asylum seeker page

It is irrelevant what the facts are about the circumstances of these individuals or the methods by which they come. An immigrant or refugee does not belong here and will never belong here unless they themselves derive their cultural heritage and genealogical ancestry from the most redoubtable of all human groups, the British race, who arrived on this virgin continent two hundred years ago to take it -- as was their right -- for their own. We are an extension of that admirable, envied cultural, spiritual and biological continuity, the aristocratic Anglo-Saxon people, the true indigenous people of Australia -- the conquerors, the usupers of the weak, slovenly Australoids that were here before. Asylum seekesr of Sudanese, Vietnanese or Afghani heritage, regardless of their personal qualities or aspirations, will always be aliens in our midst. They cannot be allowed sanctuary into this homeland. Our cultural and ethnic genetic interest is at stake. It forbids it so.

Look kid, it's nice that you're all like at uni now, and maybe you joined getup or something and you wanna like MAKE A DIFFERENCE or whatever. That's great

But this place is fucking Bored of Studies, not the PC socialo-marxist student collective for leftwing fairies and faggots. We believe in FREEDOM, and that's why we support Tony Abbott's plan for real action.

In short, don't expect to be well received here.

I'm of the opinion that within the area of the student community forum labelled 'News, Current Affairs & Politics' politics may be an appropriate place for such things. I don't know what you think this section of the forum ought be used for otherwise.
Nevertheless, I'm somewhat bemused that you would in your rejection of my topic for discussion you would purport homophobic terminology, such as 'faggot', accuse others of being mythical creatures, and use the term 'left wing' which doesn't have a specific meaning, it literally means in opposition as it comes from where factions sat at the first parliament of the French Republic, where the aristocracy sat on the right, and the poor and the church sat on the left. On top of that you have made up a term 'socialo' which i presume is a form of socialism as a prefix -you may want to consult of a dictionary - nevertheless, abstract yourself from your political persuasion, and ask as socialism by definition is the 'end of exploitation of workers' as a political idea what is fundamentally ethically wrong with that? Nor do i understand why you have accused me of having said political opinion. And I don't know why you also have issues with Marxism; Marx was just a philosopher, like Hegel, Kant, Schopenhauer or Descartes, why would you be have an affront to someone who has provided a critique with the world, discovered some problems and questioned it.
Now, on your odd idea that the other major parties do not celebrate liberty and wish to extend it, i have this to say: liberty is defined as the power and resources to act to fulfill one's own potential, so deprivation of power and resources from individuals reduces their liberty. There is nothing wrong in policies designed to avoid a poverty trap.
I could continue, however I would not like to speak of anything beyond you - us political science students babble a bit.

Please keep it on topic my beloved and deeply treasured NCAPers. Would hate a potentially decent thread to go down the drain.

If you have problems with people like Marx, address the problems they raise.
It doesn't who you have a problem with, address their critique with reason, rational logic and facts.
Otherwise you have nothing to add the the dialog of political debate.

So sorry...

So any other criticism of Abbott as the Opposition Leader?
Or defences of such criticisms, once they've come.

There something wrong who rejects the knowledge of experts who have spent their lives studying and explaining phenomena. For Mr Abbott to reject Climate Change it is tantamount to him rejecting all knowledge and unilaterally asserting his supposed monopoly of the truth.
Unfortunately without his PhD in an aspect of climate science he is not in any position to refute climate change.
It may be a theory, but so is gravity. Today we still don't understand gravity, it's one of the only forces we don't really understand, but because there is slight disagreement over it Mr Abbott doesn't reject that there is gravity. It'd be nice if he'd extend the same logic to the truism of climate change.

The left love to construct narratives around right wing politicians that portray them as being racists, misogynists, academic lightweights and homophobes. Tell me, does that stem from the strange sense of moral superiority that nearly all people on the far left have?

And conservatives like to wave aside critiques of conservative policy as the self righteous mewling of late sipping yuppies in ivory towers. Possibly because trying to reconcile a moral basis or logical reasoning with most conservative social policy is nigh impossible and straw manning the source of the critique

Well conservatives by definition have a political philosophy of conserving the status quo as the belief is society have evolved organically and therefore to disturb the status quo will have adverse effects.
Therefore they may not be racist - they may exploit racist sentiments within the population - they may not be misogynistic, or homophobic, but by refusing to have policies which take into consideration minority statuses, or female challenges to employment, by refusing equality in say combat roles in the military or by refusing equality of marriage to the gay and lesbian community on the basis of religion when the state is separated from the church are all examples of discrimination that are all tantamount to a questioning. why would they not wish to see an improvement in the condition of these peoples in society? is it because they hate these people? is the implied answer.
There is no justification for refusing someone a combat role merely because of their sex - there is however for the capacity of an individual to perform a task.
Religion is no justification for discrimination and the denial of equality before the law as it is in the case of gay and lesbian marriage.
Not providing adequate services for single mothers is an abandonment of that mother and child and cannot be justified.

Our Liberal Party has 2 traditions one is a conservative tradition, the other is a liberal tradition. So this complicates things.
So Work Choices was a fundamentally unconservative idea, it repealed 140 years of labour reform, and removed workers rights to collectively bargain. for it to be conservative it would need to conserve the status quo, it didn't. it was a neo-liberal idea to give complete negative liberty - we the government will leave individual works and individual employees without collective bargaining rights to sort things out of their own.

The Labor Party started out as a socialist party, it no longer is today. in 1949 they attempted to nationalise the banks, in 1991 they privatised the Commonwealth Bank, along with Qantas, parts of Telstra and many many many other essential services. Today it is a neoliberal party of the third way - in between radical nengative liberalism and social liberal values.

"liberty is defined as the power and resources to act to fulfill one's own potential,"

and capitalism enables people to gain this power

communism gives no incentive to work to fulfill your potential

the question for the OP is what do you mean by supporting Marxist notions.

if its communism you are supporting then you should answer for it.

Abbott was the only hope we had for stopping the boats. Ju-liar has doomed this country to becoming an islamic state. It's funny how the feminist left are the strongest cheerleaders for the mass migration of islam to this country, and hence the inevitable erosion of womens rights.
