we handed in our assignment around week 5-6 last term and we still haven't got it back. i asked our teacher every week and his response is:

"it is a work in progress"

Don't know about your school.....
But there's a two week turn around policy at uni.

Nope, if you don't hand it in your practically screwed. There goes ranking, ATAR, etc.

Go to the Science coordinator and tell them to ask your teacher.
If they do nothing, go to the teacher in charge of curriculum.
If they do nothing go to the Deputy Principal.
If they do nothing go to the Principal.
If they do nothing go to Today Tonight.

No, no rule against it.

I never knew about this either. I don't think I've ever received any assignment back within 2 weeks of handing it in in university.

i haven't either. Some universities or some departments may have a 2 week turn around policy, but I've never had an assignment back within 2 weeks and this is my 5th year at uni :p

It's totally normal, My physics stuff took about a term to come back, assignments/pracs etc... exams took about 5 weeks. Our physics teacher was the head teacher and he was a lazy ass.

Well We would always join classes with his class, but still.

Also our uni might have that policy, but we never get stuff back on time.

Wow.....It's policy at my uni to have assignments and grades returned after 2 weeks, unless the markers have a valid reason.
It's pretty much equivalent to students having to provide a good reason for special consideration for assignments/exams.
