If you want to become a genetic anthropologist, I would suggest picking something that's related to this and that is more main stream and beside as you said, the major stuffs in genes have already been discovered.
Ofcourse there would be plenty of jobs which fits into this course. For example, biotechnology/environmental science (although environmental engineering would be better) is a rapid growing industry. Since you're interested in genes and stuff, then biotechnology would be great for you + it's a growing industry.
After picking a main stream research, then pick a country which has a demand for your research e.g. China is screaming out for environmental science/engineerers, and I also heard they pay quite high for bio-technologists.
