G'day Guys I'm new to the site and wanted to know what you thought I should do for Year 12. I am currently doing:
Chemistry, Economics, Visual Arts, 2 Unit Maths, SOR 1 Unit, 3 Unit English.

I plan to do 4 Unit English next year regardless of my other subject choices.
This takes me up to 13 units. I'm not keen on doing this much.

I do very well in all my subjects except Chemistry (probably averaging a high C/low B) (which I also happen to hate), and Maths which I don't like.
However everyone is struggling in maths and relative to the grade I'm doing okay.
I have considered the relevance of doing SOR, even though I am very good at it.

I want 99.70 for Law/Economics.
What should I drop?

Thanks guys!

Drop nothing. Why do you need to drop anything? 13 units is completely bearable.

although 13 units is manageable, why not ease the workload if you can? it frees up more time to study and do better in your other subjects.

if you hate chemistry and you're not doing too well in it, i really don't see why you would want to keep it, as the scaling won't really do anything for you if you're not doing well in it in the first place. also, law/economics has nothing to do with chemistry so i'd drop it.

From that information, I'd say drop chemistry.

If you're school is like mine then you can drop subjects throughout the year?
I don't see why you can't do 13 and then drop them as you progress into year 12 and see how everything is balancing?

If you are doing the worst in Chem, drop it. If you're gunning for 99.7 you need high scores in all your subjects. So go down to 11u and use the extra time effectively. Also, Chem isn't going to benefit your career path nor help you get into it because you are good at chem.

Oh and it's totally understandable to not want to do 13 units, and be wary of Shadow, he did do 14 units but failed Ex2 Maths in raw marks. He might have been better off not biting off so much.

What's your school rank :) ?

I don't know about what my ranks are at the moment, I topped a few subjects last year however. They don't give us our marks back for many subjects. They say it's better if they only give us feedback so we improve more. It's stupid because we can't tell how we're actually going.

anyhow. School rank, I go to Scots College in Sydney ranked equal 41st? according to bettereducation.com.au

FYI, the top people at my school all did at least 12 units. Don't assume "Oh, I have 10 units so I'm automatically going to study more". Because 99% of the time, they're not going to do that.

I did not fail MX2. If you want to debate that - go ahead, but prepare to lose.

Looks like you are doing well at a highly ranked school :)

Sorry Shadow, I mean your score was way better than what I would get if I did Ex 2 Math. I just think 14u is a big workload (esp. the particular combo you did). I think you are very smart, and might have gotten a super high ATAR, if you had your study time less divided by all your subjects. However, it does not matter in your case as you got into your dream course! So I bow down to you. We are not recommending the Op drop to10 u, as that can be risky, we were recommending 11u, esp. because it does not seem Chem will count. (Unless OP, Scots has a particular strong overall cohort performance in chem each year) But even so, it's not really applicable to the uni degree they want to do.
