yes i understand what you mean,1. but the point is that in half of all cases no one actually cares about it...and those who have 10U+ put it aside because in life 2. english is not as essential as the skills developed in maths! 3. coz english you can learn throughout however the fundamentals of maths are not something you can just attain and it is used more frequently out in THE REAL WORLD!

1. yes, but as jessxr said, there is a difference between personally dis/liking a subject and its importance.
2. Incorrect. Most careers require you to have an articulate command of language, not just in journalism, teaching etc. and other obvious careers, but even in business and medicine.
3. Again, not entirely accurate. Creativity isn't "attained" so easily and up to 3u maths, rote learning which you can just attain, can get you through most of the course.

Don't get me wrong. I love maths, but I also understand that english is an important subject.

But if you think about it, if you know your addition, subtraction, dividing and times (the four basic principles of basic maths), then you should be fine NOT doing maths and you will succeed in life without doing Maths Extension 2 or whatever crap. Yeah but 60% is greater than 40% and those 60% will have english count over another subject. The fact is english is the only subject that will always count and is therefore more of a "core" subject than a "fringe" one you just ignore.

As for this, I am devoting some time today to finalise my english essay plans (about 2 hours for each module), then I will write 4 prac essays tomorrow and do some more essay planning. I plan to have about 4 essay plans with 4 thesis statements for each module and belonging and do 6 prac papers overall.

Besides 4U maths, English is probably the best indicator of a student's ability to reason and draw logical conclusions, IMO this is a more important quality and better indicator of intelligence than being able to regurgitate random facts.

However, some teachers take the shit and keep finding any possible loophole, whether big or small (or even not existant) to criticise your work. Some teachers go as far as to say 'Wheres my quote??' before even reading the next line which has the said 'quote'.

Sometimes I think english teachers read our sentences in isolation. I didn't know I should continue a sentence without fullstops because they are so lazy to read the next sentence which will contradict their feedback.

I did 4U Maths. I have never had to use a calculator since my last HSC exam. So yeah, don't tell me that I will use 4U Maths or Phys or Chem in my daily life either.

I got 1 generically 'polished' essay confirmed by hsc markers ... for each module and AOS.. However im doing essay plans also.. so i can prepare for the worst questions possible.. If you think the HSC is just simple memorising with 1 essay for 1 module , you're wrong ..

i would make one up on the spot. Although, I doubt they would. If a typical essay is 1000 words - 150 or so for intro/conc that leaves 850 words of textual analysis, which at 40% RTs, would result in 340 words, between 3 RTs = 113 words haha. That's not nearly enough.

I'd memorise my essays partially, but i'd also prepare backup bodies and study my text/quotes very well... I'd prepare multiple intros and topic sentences also just incase the question is unexpecting..

I dont see the point of this lol.

This is waste of time, considering that I already study 7-8 hrs a day to cover all of my subjects, I just don't have the time to start memorising more shit for english. lolz
