Re: HELP!Examples of physical conditions/chemical conditions and competition for reso
Hi, I'm not quite sure these are examples but as long as you understand the concept, I'm sure you can think of more examples.
Physical change
So an example of this would be the emergence/adaption of fire-resistance in Australian plants as a result of the arid environment prone to fires. Another example perhaps would be a change from rainforest to woodland, dry schlerophyll and grasslands (from change in Australian climate). The saltbush increased its tolerance to salinity and (from the drying out of Australia which increased salinity levels).
Chemical change
Resistance to herbicides. For example, wildoats which are spread across the main wheat growing areas.
Competition for resources
Taller trees in rainforests generally have large canopies that increase sunlight collection. These canopies however block out the sun and prevent sunlight reaching the ground and as a result, smaller trees are inhibited from growing. This decreases the competition for light, nutrients and water for that particular tall tree. (No surrounding competition).
I had another plant that produced chemicals surrounding it so other plants could not grow nearby but I can't remember the name. Sorry, I'll have a look later today.
Hope this helps!
