I dunno, these people go to uni for like 4+ years. You'd expect them to at least know a bit about the subject.
You'd be surprised how many shitty teachers there are out there. I've had one try to dock me marks because they thought that if |x| = 1, then x = 1, instead of plus/minus 1. I had to explain to them the definition before they corrected my paper.

Haha wtf. Teaching in Aus doesn't have the prestige as in other countries. Especially in Europe and Asia the teaching profession is regarded highly.

Which sucks as there are some very good teachers out there.

Not all do. Some only go for a year or two, or don't even step foot on campus and do it by distance-ed.
