At my school, I don't recall the 2011 mark but in 2010 the dux was a Chinese girl with a 94.8 ATAR. Still good but its a very mediocre result in comparison to the ones on here.
btw when I first heard the term 'dux' I had just come to Australia and knew very little English so you can imagine my confusion when the 'ducks' for that year was called out. I did not get why they had an award called 'duck' and why there wasn't more than one person getting it XD

I was Dux of my school (Parramatta Marist High), and I got high enough to get into USyd law, so that's all that matters lol :p

What did you get? :O
.95 (I've always wanted to omit the first two digits lol, seeing ruse kids to it LMAO. Sorry for cockiness.)

Okay. Maybe then. But I sorta wanted to go Oatley. Seems like a fun school ^_^
haha it's not a bad school in that way, but academically not the best, esp these days (well, I assume this because otherwise, I don't think there's any reason not to announce the 2010 dux)

99.95? lol
Is it a disadvantage that theres so many kids?
Like its more competition so its harder to be first in subjects

And I just read the newsletter thing and it said the school doesn't get students ATARs so they only post up what kids tell them
but highest did reach 99+

I've been told that because it's such a large grade, many aren't serious about their HSC so they drag their cohort down. And I don't believe that it really is that difficult to become top at Oatley compared to some other schools.

And what newsletter thing?

haha asian parents. I would have been in the same situation if I got my PR earlier but luckily was too late to transfer to a selective school for year 11 and it's kinda stupid to do that in year 12.
and the lake LOL suffers from eutrophication! I guess it's also kinda cool in that way lmao.

Many kids, but also very diverse in their academic ability. So it's not too hard to be the 1st as the number of students suggest (well, ofc it's still hard but relative to majority of selective schools, I reckon?).

and yes, that's what they say as an excuse. That's always been the case, but they've been announcing the dux till 2009 without a problem!

and hmm, I feel sorry for the guy who deserved dux award and didn't get it.

Well selective schools aren't all that great either...

I was told the lake had an electric eel O_O Which is probably a lie XD
But life at Oatley seems pretty fun and colourful =)

I predict that 2012 DUX is a female! XD

I have confidence in a certain girl! Apparently her siblings were also DUXs of Oatley so she's probably going to carry the 'tradition'! ^_^

Btw, may I ask what you're currently studying in Uni?

Oh wow, really? What's her last name? (I feel like being a stalker lol)

I'm studying combined sci-med at usyd. It's 3 years of science and then 4 years of med. 3rd year this year so I'm still doing the science part.

What about you?

Oh awesome! Haha I've always wanted to meet some more oatley people but being kinda far away and having no contacts didn't help. lol I wonder, is the name "Danny Kim" still familiar to you guys? lmao.
