I can't say I'm hopeful for the future of the national team. We seem to be quite reliant on the old guard and the performance of the U23 team in the qualifiers for the Olympics was worrying.

definately. its been a lost generation. there will soon be a point when we will have no players into the epl, probably only 3 or 4 left now and other than cahill and schwarzer, theyre not even in the first team squad. japan on the other hand have 5 high profile, high potential players there.

With Lambert as Villa manager, it will be interesting to see how his position in relation to the first-team squad changes, if at all.
