At my school, in the prelim course you can either do any form of maths, or IT. I currently do general maths, I'm no good at it (I'm bad I know, but I don't put effort into it) and I have 12 units.

Heading into the final term of prelim, I am unsure on what to do. Should I drop general maths now and go to IT? What do you learn in IT? Or should I just stick with general maths? I feel I can get a very good mark in IT from what I hear about the subject. And lets say, 80 in IT would be better than 50 in general maths would it not?

General maths is by far my worst subject (at least by 20 marks). If I stick with it I am 99% sure it won't count towards my ATAR, but I don't want to study it and put effort into it if it's going towards nothing.

Any advice/help is appreciated :)

If you aren't good at maths then just drop it if you think you would do better in another subject.

Don't drop General Maths! That is my advice, its a subject that if you put the effort in your guaranteed you'll get a good mark out of it. I am aiming for a 95+ in general maths, and its actually not that hard, just a few things you'd need to do to boost your levels, I think you can learn general maths alot faster and easier than having to do IT. If you need any help I'm willing to help you , and after I finish my HSC in a few months, I can give you all my notes and stuff that I've typed up for it.

KEEP GENERAL MATHS, and aim for a 80+ (at least) its easy to do, and if you find you hate studying for maths, try listening to music while studying (that is what i do, it makes it fun to do maths :p)

Thanks for getting back to me. I have decided that I will wait until this term is over. I'm gonna try my best and put effort into it, and if the marks don't reflect my efforts, then I will most likely drop it - But I actually hope this doesn't happen, I'd rather do well in it. I'm gonna aim for 80 as you mentioned...

Any notes and stuff would be greatly appreciated - I come on here and read all the time but only just made my account...

95+ is impressive and I wish you all the best :)

and thanks for the music tip, I'll give it a try :p

Yeah well that's why I asked - But as mentioned above I'm gonna give it this final prelim term and see how I go.

Thanks also for replying :)
